Meadows rwmeadows@charter.net October 14, 2003, 9:23 pm Written: February 6 1804 Recorded: April 12 1804 Poyndexter & Anne Payne to Lewis Davis, 6 February 1804 Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book OOO, right-hand page of folio 26: Georgia ) This Indenture made and confirmed on the sixth day of Franklin County ) February eighteen hundred and four, Between Poyndexter Payne and Anne his wife of the one part and Lewis Davis of the other part all of the State & County aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said Poyndexter Payne and Anne his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of three hundred Dollars to them in hand paid, before the ensealing and delivery of these presents Have and by these presents do Bargain sell alien and Convey unto the said Lewis Davis a tract or parcel of Land Containing One hundred and seventy two acres more or less being the balance of a tract Granted to Thomas Payne of two hundred Acres Situate on the middle fork of Broad River adjoining a tract of two hundred eighty seven and one half Surveyed for John Burks, the tract or parcel of Land now sold and Conveyed to said Davis, Beginning on a hickory thence South seventy East fifty four Chains twenty five links to a Stake and divisional line, Between s'd tract and land sold to Nathan Steadman, then North twenty [East?] [left-hand page of folio 27] thirty two chain to a Stake, then North seventy West fifty seven Chain and twenty five links to a red Oak, then South twenty West thirty two Chain to the Beginning. All and singular the land Tenements Hereditaments appurtenances and advantages to the premises aforesaid belonging or in any wise appertaining the said Poyndexter Payne and Anne his wife will Warrant and forever Defend for themselves their heirs etc. to the said Lewis Davis his heirs etc. from the lawfull Claims of all Person or Persons under whatever pretence. In Testimony whereof we the said Poyndexter Payne and Anne his wife have hereto set our hands and affixed our seals on the day & date above Written ---- Signed Acknowledged & Delivered ) In the Presence Of ---- ) Poyndexter Payne (L.S.) P. ) Georgia ) This day came Anne Payne wife of Poyndexter Payne before Franklin County ) me and on private and legal Examination says that she by these presents of her own free will and accord without Constraint doth quit Claim and forever relinquish unto Lewis Davis his heirs etc. forever all my right title and interest of and to any thirds or dower of the Land and Tenements as designated within.
