Meadows rwmeadows@charter.net October 28, 2003, 7:31 pm Written: May 25 1816 Recorded: June 3 1816 John & Nancy Payne to Thomas Payne, 25 May 1816 Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book MMM, right-hand page of folio 110: This Deed made this twenty fifth day of May in the year of our lord eighteen hundred and sixteen Between John Payne and Nancy his wife of the County of Franklin and State of Georgia of the one part, and Thomas Payne of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Jno. Payne for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Payne the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given, Granted, bargained and sold, alienated and confirmed unto the said Thomas Payne all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the above mentioned County and State on the middle fork of Broad River containing one hundred and eighty acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, to wit, begining at a post oak corner running thence S.30. degrees West to a white oak on the river bank, thence a direct line crossing the river to a popler corner on William Aarons line, thence on Aarons line to an ash on the river, thence down the meanders of said River to a pine corner, thence N.10.W. to a Red Oak corner thence W. to a pine corner, thence S.75.W. to pine corner, thence S.32.W. to the beginning the Reversion and Reversions, Remainder [left-hand page of folio 111] & Remainders Rites interest claims & demands whatsoever of us the said John Payne and Nancy his wife of in and to that Tract or parcel of Land and premises and every part thereof to Have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land, and all and singular the said premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto the said Thomas Payne his heirs and assigns for ever and we the said John Payne & Nancy his wife for our selves and heirs the said tract of land & premises against us and our heirs and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and for ever defend the above premises unto the said Thomas Payne his heirs and assigns in witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals the day and date above written Sined Sealed & delivered in presence of us John Payne (L.S.)
