Greenwood, 26 November 1813 Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book MMM, left-hand page of folio 57: Georgia ) This Deed made and entered into this twenty sixth day of Franklin County ) November in the year Eighteen hundred & thirteen between Zebidiah Payne Administrator on the Estate of Cleveland Payne deceased of the one part and Hugh B. Greenwood of the other part, both of the County & State aforesaid at the time of the Administration, but now the said Payne is of the County of Bedford & State of Tennessee & the said Greenwood still of the County & State aforesaid, Witnesseth that the said Zebediah Payne Administrator as aforesaid agreeable to & order of Court in such Cases made & provided, has on the first tuesday in September in the year Eighteen hundred & twelve sold at public sale Eighty acres of land part of the real Estate of said deceased, it being part of a nine hundred acre survey originally Granted to Thomas Payne deceased; lying on the Middle fork of Broad River, & bounded at this time by Mathewes John R. Brown, & Absalom Tranthams land; at which time Hugh B. Greenwood became the purchaser for the sum of two hundred & sixty five dollars. Now this deed Witnesseth that I the said Zebediah Payne administrator for and in consideration of the sum aforesaid do by these presents bargain sell & convey to the said Hugh B. Greenwood all that tract or parcel of land aforesaid & I do further warrant & defend the right title claim & demand from [right-hand page of folio 57] myself my heirs etc. and also from the claim of all other person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day and year above written-- Signed Sealed & Delivered in presence of Moses Payne Zebediah Payne (seal) John Kees Natha'l Payne Georgia ) Personally appeared John Kees who being duly sworn saith Franklin County ) that he did see Zebediah Payne sign seal and acknowledge the within deed of Conveyance to H. B. Greenwood for the purposes within mentioned, also did see Moses Payne and Nathaniel Payne subscribe their names together with himself as witnesses to the within Deed Sworn to this 28th December 1815 before me R.
