Catharine Payne to Middleton Payne, 25 July 1825

Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book BB, right-hand page of folio 15:

Georgia         )   This Indenture made this twenty fifth day of July one 
Franklin County )   thousand Eight hundred and twenty five.  Between Catharine 
Payne of the State and County above named of the one part and Middleton Payne 
of the same place of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said Catharine Payne 
for and in Consideration of the Sum of five hundred dollars to her in hand 
paid by the said Middleton Payne at or before the sealing & delivery of these 
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given

granted bargained and Sold and Conveyed and by these presents doth give grant 
bargain and Sell and Confirm to the said Middleton Payne his heirs forever all 
that tract or parcel of land containing Eighty Acres be the Same more or 
less.  It being part of Two hundred and fifty acres granted to Thos Payne and 
all my part that lieth on the North Side of the Middle fork of Broad River.  
Begining on a Post Oak thence South 5 East to the river 23 Chs Thence down the 
middle of said River to the lower line thence along said line to a Beach 
Corner thence North 85 E to William Ramseys land 4 chains to a Pine Corner 
thence North 5 W. with said Ramseys land Twenty [five?] chains to a Post Oak 
Corner thence South 45 W. 4 chaines to a Post Oak Corner thence South 5 E with 
Wm Paynes land thence on to the Hickory Corner on the old original line thence 
on the original line 85 W. to the begining  To have and to hold the said tract 
or parcel of land together with all and Singular the rights members and 
appurtenances thereof and every part thereof unto the said Middleton Payne his 
heirs and assigns forever in fee simple and I Cattrin Payne for my self my 
heirs will warrant and forever defend the rights of said land unto the said 
Middleton Payne his heirs and assigns forever from any person holding any Just 
Claim to the Same.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal 
this Twenty fifth day of July 1825.

Georgia         )   Personally appeared Darling B House who being duly sworn 
Franklin County )   deposeth and saith on oath that he saw Catharine Payne 
execute the within deed to Middleton Payne and that deponent assigned the Same 
as a witness and Saw Samuel Payne do likewise.  Sworn to & subscribed before 
me this 9th Nov'r 1825
