Shrewsbury Payne to Thomas Payne 5 Jan. 1801

Franklin Co., GA, deed book T, page 144:

I do relinquish all right title and claim of all lands left me by the will of 
my Brother Thomas Payne Deceased to Thomas Payne my Father except what Lands I 
Sold to Nathan Steadmen  also acknowledge my self satisfied as to my part of 
my fathers Estate.  Given under my hand this 5th Day of January 1801--

[Transcriber's notes:

1)  The clerk placed consecutive numbers only on the right-hand pages.  This 
entry is on the left-hand page, which bears no number.  The right-hand page is 
numbered 144.

2)  This is the entire entry.  Occasionally, the clerk recorded documents with 
no indication that anyone had appeared at court to authenticate them.

3)  The zero in the year 1801 is not perfectly written by the clerk, but it 
does appear clearly to be a zero and not a one.  Apparently, Shrewsbury Payne 
relinquished any further claim to the estate of his deceased brother almost 
ten years before his brother's estate was finally settled, and stated his 
satisfaction with his share of his father's estate at least ten years before 
his father died.]
