All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Robert Meadows rwmeadows@charter.net July 22, 2003, 8:36 pm Written: January 7 1801 Recorded: February 18 1801 Thomas Payne Sr. to Srorsberry Payne, 7 Jan. 1801 [The grantee's name was variously spelled as Sroresbury, Sroresberry, Srorsberry, Shrewsberry, and Shrewsbury Payne.] [The clerk used the folio method of page numbering: putting consecutive numbers on the left-hand pages and leaving the right-hand pages unnumbered.] Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book NN, left-hand page of folio 90: This Indenture made this seventh day of January in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and one Between Thomas Payne sen'r of the County of Franklin & State of Georgia of the one part and Srorsberry Payne of the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Thomas Payne for an consideration of the sum of one thousand Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Srorsberry Payne the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained & sold aliniated & confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell alineate & confirm unto the said Srorsberry Payne all that tract of land lying & being in Franklin County on Toogaloe River containing by estimation two hundred eighty seven & one half acres (To wit) Beginning at a Spanish oak corner running thence South 45 West 50..00 Chains to a red oak Corner thence North 35 West 61..00 Chains to a post oak corner on said River bounded on the South West [right-hand page of folio 90] by Elisha Isaacs & North West by Vacant at the time of survey also the revertion & revertions remainder & remainders rights claims & Demands whatsoever of him the said Thomas Payne of & to all that tract and parcel of land and premisses & every part thereof To have & to hold the said tract & parcel of land & all & singular the said premisses above mentioned with the appertainances unto the said Srorsberry Payne his heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use & behoof of the said Srorsberry Payne his heirs & assigns forever & he the said Thomas [The clerk first wrote the name Srorsberry, then wrote Thomas over it.] Payne for himself & his heirs the said tract or parcel of land & premisses & every part thereof against him & his heirs & assigns unto the said Srorsberry Payne his heirs & assigns forever shall & will warrant & forever Defend from him & his heirs forever In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Payne hath hereunto set my hand & seal the year & day first above written Signed Sealed & delivered ) Thomas Payne (seal) in presence of ) R.
