All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Robert Meadows rwmeadows@charter.net July 23, 2003, 11:55 pm Written: February 19 1811 Recorded: May 8 1811 Shrewsberry & Sarah Payne to William Clark, 19 Feb. 1811 [The grantor's name was variously spelled as Srorsberry, Sroresberry, Sroesberry, and Shrewsbury Payne.] [The clerk used the folio method of page numbering: putting consecutive numbers on the right-hand pages and leaving the left-hand pages unnumbered.] Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book T, right-hand page of folio 175: State of Georgia ) Know all men by these presents that I Shrewsberry Franklin County ) Payne of the County and State aforesaid for and in consideration of Eighteen hundred dollars to me in hand paid by William Clark of the State of South Carolina and district of Pendleton the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have Bargained & Sold and by these presents do Bargain Sell and deliver unto the aforesaid William Clark all that tract or parcel of land Situate in the County and State aforesaid lying and being on Togalo River known by the name of Eastatoa old field Said Survey containing by Eastamation Two hundred and Eighty four and a half acres be the same more or less Begining on the Bank of Togalo River on a spanish oak Runing from thence South 45 West fifty chains to a red oak corner thence North 35 West to a hickory corner made on said line by the aforesaid S. B. Payne and John Roberds as wall appear by having Referance To a deed of Conveyance made by said S. B. Payne to said Roberts thence North 24 degrees East to a red oak corner on the river, thence [left-hand page of folio 176] thence with the various meanders of the river down to the Begining corner Together with all and Singular the premises above mentioned unto the said William Clark his heirs Executors and administrators to warrant and for ever defend the above mentioned premises Together with all and Singular the rights members hereditaments and appertainances whatsoever Belonging to the Same or in any wise incident or appertaining thereto the said William Clark his heirs and assigns for ever against myself and my heirs and against every other person whomsoever claiming or to claim the Same or any part thereof In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this nineteenth day of February One thousand Eight hundred & Eleven and in the thirty sixth year of the American Independance -- Signed Sealed and delivered in presents of us N.
