This Indenture made this Eighteenth day of February one thousand Eight  
 hundred and Twenty four Between Mason Shumate and Joseph Shumate of the one part and John Belamy of the other part both of the state and county aforesaid     Witnesseth that the said Mason Shumate and Joseph Shumate  for and in Consideration of the Sum of thirteen hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt herein acknowledged have granted Bargained and sold and  by these presents do grant Bargain Sell and Convey  unto John Belamy all that tract or parcel of land hereafter described beginning at a Dogwood corner on the Bank of the River Runing thence S 10 E 68.50 Links to a Post oak X thence N 80 E 44 chains to Black oak X thence N 10. W 49 chains Crossing the River to a Post oak X thence S 67. W 17 chains to an oak Corner on the bank of the River at the mouth of Hunters Creek thence up the meanders of said River to the beginning Corner including two hundred and thirty two acres bet the same more or less.   Together with all and singular the rights members houditraments and appartainances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned and we do hereby bind our selves our heirs Executors and Administrators.  To warrant and forever defend unto the aforesaid John Belamy his heirs Executors and Administrators all the Land and premises aforesaid against the Lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever claiming the Same or any part thereof.  In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals on the day first written.

Franklin County  }  Nancy Shumate wife of the within named Mason Shumate this day came before me and being privately and separate and apart from her said Husband Examined by me did declare that she freely voluntarly without any compulsion dred or fear of any person renounce and release all her Interest and Estate and dower to John Belamy to all her right and dower to the land mentioned in the within deed   In Witness whereof she hath set her hand and affixed her seal this 18th day of February 1824
