Representing the county with their demonstrations, they did an outstanding job. As usual they are always encouraged to do their very best by the agents, program assistant and parents. Four-H'ers always learn by doing. First place winner was Shannon Harper, sixth grade student at Carnesville Elementary, in veterinary science. Second place winners: Christy Casey, plants, soils and fertilizers; Amy Caudell, housing and equipment; Renee Elrod, veterinary science; Jame Rice, conservation of natural resources and Keith Warlick, horse. Third place winners: Donna Herron, food conservation and safety; Chad Carey, lamb and meat goats; Ben Coggins, pet care; Jeff Elrod, automotive; William Gipson, arts and crafts, and Grover Wilson, performing arts, general. Franklin County has a total of one first place, five second place and six third place winners. Others placing were Lydia Akin, safety; Sherry Akin, bicycle; Traci Bennett, health; Chiffon Burch, human development; Clare Davis, wildlife; Shannon Davis, pet care; Natalie Elrod, between-meal snacks; Kristi Haley, beef; Libby Hardeman, dairy foods; Trace Jordan, public speaking; Amy Looney, sports and outdoor recreation; Beth Looney, general recreation. Frances Martin, clothing and textiles; Amy Pennington, photography; Lois Silvers, arts and crafts; Josh Lunsford, sports and outdoor recreation and Dusty Morgan, wildlife. Accompanying the 4-H'ers and giving them great support were: Roy Deason, Extension director; Elaine Gilmer, Extension agent; and program assistant Helen Varner; also, parents Mrs. Nell Martin and Andrea Pennington. Bus driver was Faye Segars. This was a group of 4H'ers of which to be proud.
