The Carnesville Herald June 22, 1944
Fire was discovered in Lee Yow's store in Lavonia Wednesday morning at 2:30 
o'clock. The alarm was turned in and the Fire Department responded quickly and 
extinguished the flames. There was a considerable smoke damage all over the 
store, thought the flames were confined to a small area in the rear. It is not 
known how the fire originated.
