The Carnesville Herald July 28, 1960
A Franklin County man was injured in a two-car accident near Toccoa.  The victim, 
identified as Hess Fowler, 53, of Rt. 2, Carnesville, was listed in "fair" 
condition Monday night at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.

Fowler suffered chest injuries in the two-way accident three miles west of Toccoa 
on U.S. 123 about 11:45 p.m. Monday. He was admitted at the Royston hospital at 
1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Fowler reportedly was driving a 1951 Chevrolet, which collided with a 1956 Ford 
driven by Gene Dodd of Mt. Airy, Dodd escaped injury.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Sgt. J.J. Whitmire of Toccoa State Patrol post investigated.
