The Royston Record September 22, 1955
The Purple Panthers of Royston High School will meet Waynesboro here Friday night 
in the first regional game of the season.

Stephens County's explosive Indians added another scalp to the 1955 season 
collection as they ran rough-shod over a never-say-die Royston eleven, 33 to 7, in 
Eastonolle last Friday night.

Royston's only touchdown came late in the fourth quarter when Jerry Jordan took a 
hand-off and ran 47 yards to score. Paul Drake kicked the extra point.

The Panthers will be more evenly matched Friday when they meet the Waynesboro 
eleven. In the two previous games with Lavonia and Eastonolle, the Panthers have 
been playing teams in higher classes. Waynesboro will be the first Class C team to 
be played this season.

Everybody is urged to be out in force at the game Friday night and back the team 
and the community.

Additional Comments:
I dislike the Native American terms used for the Stephens County team, but it is 
what was written in 1955.
