Ordinary J. B. McEntire is this week distributing checks in the amount of $30 
each to the Confederate veterans and widows of veterans.  The pension 
commissioners state this does not mean the the pensioners will receive this 
amount each month unless the legislature amends the law to that effect.  It is 
money that is in the treasury and is being paid in order that the pensioners 
may use same now.  It is hoped that the extra session of the legislature will 
provide for the regular monthly payments to the pensioners.
