The Carnesville Herald June 3, 1943
Staff Sergeant Phil Dowis was injured last week in an airplane crash in Louisiana. 
He was in a transport plane that crashed causing him to receive injury to the 
spine and other injuries.  He is now at Base Hospital, Barksdale Field, La., where 
he will remain for at least three months. He would like to hear from his friends 
while there and the above address will reach him all right.
