Parten who was honored with a birthday dinner by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great-granddaughter and friends in the fellowship hall at Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church for her 90th birthday. Mrs. parten is a member of Pennington Chapel Church. A beautiful cake was baked and decorated by Mrs. Ida Parten. Mrs. Parten was born Jan. 27, 1890 in Franklin County. She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bob Phillips. Her husband, Mr. Benjamin E. Parten, died in January 1968. They were the parents of eleven children, nine of which are still living; six daughters, are Mrs. Ellis Sorrells, Miss Carmel Parten, Mrs. Lucy Haley, Miss Madge Parten, Mrs. Winnie Lou Patterson, and Miss Monteen Parten, and three sons are Mr. George Parten, Mr. Bill Parten, and Mr. Travis Parten. All nine children were present to wish her a happy birthday. She was presented with many beautiful gifts and flowers as an expression of their love for her.
