The Carnesville Herald December 17, 1931
Two young white boys from Anderson, S.C., were placed in jail Wednesday afternoon 
and are being held pending investigation. They stole a sample case of Mr. Preston, 
a traveling salesman and after rifling some hid it. It contained nothing of value 
to anyone except the company for which he was traveling.

The boys gave their names as Browning and Whitfield and stated that they had ran 
away from their home in Anderson and were on their way to Texas. They were about 
ten or twelve years old. Efforts are being made to locate their parents in 
Anderson.
