He was born in Elbert County on February 28, 1921, and was the son of the late Cal and Dollie Whitman Black. He was a farmer and member of the Gaines Chapel Holiness Church. Mr. Black was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Pless Black; five brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include sons, Robert Black and Denver Black, both of Canon, Calvin Black, Toccoa, and David Black, Bowersville; daughters, Margaret Bohannon, Martin, Doris Black, Toccoa, and Darlene Pulliam, Lavonia; a sister, Lois Pless, Elberton; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Pless officiating. Burial was in the Gaines Chapel Holiness Church cemetery. Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
