Mr. Brown was born in Franklin County on February 12, 1855, a son of the late Tillman Brown. He had spent his life in the county of his birth. Early in life he united with the Baptist church and for many years had kept his membership at Clarkes Creek. He was active in religious work as long as he was active in life. On his last day on earth he requested a service held in his home and asked his friends to sing his favorite songs. He was conscious almost to the end and was aware that the end of his early career was approaching. He passed peacefully to his reward while surrounded by members of his family and some of his friends. He was a tower of strength for righteousness. He leaves a shining example of service for his loved ones and friends. His Eternal Father was his guiding light and he goes to a rich reward. Additional Comments: Note that his funeral was held at 1 p.m. EWT - Eastern War Time. Daughter, Hazel, was later married to Rev. W. A. Trotman.
