Ramseur, NC, Feb 20 - Death at 5:30 o'clock this morning ended the 40 year 
medical career of Dr. George Freeman Bush, who came to Ramseur in 1926 from 
Franklin County, GA, where he was born and reared and where he practiced 
medicine from 1900 until coming here.  He was 68 years old, having been born 
Feb. 10, 1873.
    Dr. Bush had been in ill health about a year, but had been critically ill 
only two weeks.  He continued to practice his profession until his last 
illness, though most of his work during the last year was confined to office 
practice.
    He received his medical degree with honors, from Emory University in 
Atlanta, GA, and after doing graduate work at Harvard University and John 
Hopkins in Baltimore, MD, returned to practice in his home county.  At  
frequent intervals from 1900 to 1926, Dr. Bush returned to Johns Hopkins and 
Harvard for specialized study in obstetrics and gynecology.  He last return to 
formal study was to Harvard in 1926.
    Close acquaintances today described the simple life of this country doctor 
and quoted him as frequently saying that "the country doctor is the cornerpart 
of rural America," under which conviction he worked with an obsession.  In 
Franklin County, GA, he formerly owned a large plantation, and he helped many 
rural boys and girls through college by outright contributions.
    Dr. Bush was a member of the Baptist church, a former Mason and a member 
of the American Medical society and Randolph County Medical Society.
    Dr. Bush is survived by his wife, the former Anna Patterson Carlan of 
Banks County, GA; a daughter, Mrs. John C. Laughon of Greensboro, NC; 2 
stepdaughters, Mrs. Fred D. Conally of High Point; Mrs. W. J. Bell of East 
Point, GA; 2 stepsons, T. H. Carlan of Minden, LA, a brother, Johnson J. Bush 
of Carthage, TX and two grandchildren 
    Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Ramseur Bapt. 
Church.  Interment was in Magnolia Garden Cemetery, High Point, NC.
