J. F. Goode officiating. Mrs. Dortch, who was 90 years old, was born in Franklin county. Her maiden name was Mary Pulliam and when about 20 years of age she married Hon. James S. Dortch, one of Franklin county's ablest lawyers, at Carnesville. They lived at Carnesville about 40 years. Colonel Dortch preceded her to the grave several years ago. For some time Mrs. Dortch had been in declining health, and about three years ago she went to Los Angeles, Calif., where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Longstreet. While her health had not been so good, her death was unexpected. Mrs. Dortch was a member of the Carnesville Methodist church. She was one of a family of 18 children, all of whom have passed away except three sisters, Miss Liza Pulliam and Mrs. Josie Burrus, of near Carnesville, and Mrs. Sarah Pulliam, of Anderson, S. C. She is also survived by two children, Mrs. Ellen Longstreet, of Los Angeles, widow of the famous Confederate general, and John R. Dortch, of Atlanta. The body of the deceased, in company with her daughter, arrived in Lavonia Saturday night and the funeral service was held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the grave in the Pulliam burying ground-the old Longstreet place.
