Franklin County Citizen, September 11, 1980
Royston--Darrell Fortson, 64, of Rout 3, Royston, husband of Ira Lee Bowen 
Fortson, died Thursday, Sept. 4, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.

Born in Madison County, he was a son of the late Mack and Clara Vaughn Fortson. He 
was a retired carpenter and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War 2.

Surviving are wife of the home, daughter, Mrs. Barbara Haley of Hull, Ga; 
brothers, W.B. Fortson of Danielsville, Jack Fortson of Rockwell, N.C., S.M. 
Fortson of Royston and Boyd Fortson of Bowman; sisters, Mrs. Permelia Brooks of 
Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. Essie Weaver of Logansville, Mrs. Jean Fowler of Oakland, 
Calif., and Mrs. Madge Wigley of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.

Services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 6, at New Hope Congregational Holiness 
Church by the Revs. Hoyt Dove, Dennis Keasler and Lester Haney. Burial was in 
church cemetery.

Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
