Funeral services for MRS. L. D. GALE of Alexander City, AL, were held at the Lavonia Baptist Church on Sunday morning, May 18th at 9:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. E. Hall, pastor of the church, and Rev. Mr. Watkins, pastor of the Methodist Church. The death of Mrs. Gale occurred at her home in Alexander City on Friday, May 16th at 3:30 p.m. Pallbearers were Messrs. H. M. Cannon, Dennis Gantt, Dewey Pulliam, W. S. Humphreys, Robert Sewell and James Sewell. Mrs. Gale died from the affects of flu and pneumonia with which she had suffered for about five months. Surviving Mrs. Gale of her immediate family are son, Dick Gale of Alexander City, AL and 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert Little and Miss Margaret Gale of Birmingham, AL and Miss Louise Gale. A sister, Mrs. Rush Burton, of Lavonia, also survives. Mrs. Gale was born in Carnesville, GA, on July 13, 1872, a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Tucker. She grew up in Carnesville where she attended the Carnesville Schools. Later she graduated from LaGrange Female College. On Dec. 28th, 1900, she was married to Dr. L. D. Gale of Carnesville. He passed to his reward in Wrens, Ga., on April 24th 1930. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Gale moved to Lavonia, where she lived for about a year. She moved to Alexander City from Lavonia about 10 years ago where she had lived with her children since. Mrs. Gale joined the Methodist Church early in her life. In later years she joined the Baptist church with her husband and continued in that faith till her death. Mrs. Gale had led a consistent Christian life through the years. She had many friends throughout Georgia. Many floral tributes attested to her popularity in Georgia and Alabama. A funeral services was held for Mrs. Gale on Saturday morning.
