Truitte had been born in Franklin County was the sone of Joe H. and Della Vickery Garner; he had been a retired farmer and produce manager. He was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church and served on its administrative board. He was survived by his sisters, Mrs. Jewel White (Cornelia, GA) and Mrs. Fannie Lou White (Greensboro, NC); his brothers, Willie and Ulus Garner (both in Bowman, GA) and Durell Garner (Greensboro, NC); and his widow, Mrs. Ruby Bond Garner (from the home). Reverends Douglas Lott and Hoyt Dove held services for him at the Macedonia United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 4, 1976.
