Funeral services for Sgt. Melvin Green, aged 24, and former resident of Franklin 
County, were held at the graveside in the Mill Shoals community cemetery Sunday 
afternoon at 5:00 o'clock.

Sgt. Green's body was returned to the States for burial. He was killed in action 
on December 21, 1942, in the North African campaign. He was serving in the United 
States Army Air Force.

He was the son of the late W. Leroy Green and Mrs. Husie Green Payne of Iva, S.C.
