MRS. NANCY CARSON GREENE, 86, one of the oldest and most beloved citizens of 
Carnesville passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. E. Sanders, 
Friday, October 26, following a lingering illness of about two years.  
Although suffering much, she was confined to her bed only two weeks.  Her 
death was attributed to Bright's disease.
    Mrs. Greene was born in Carnesville, daughter of the late Augustus 
Lafayette Carson and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Payne Carson, pioneer citizens of 
the county.  She was married to Henry Benjamin Green December 26, 1945. Her 
husband, one of our most prominent citizens preceded her to the grave by 
several years.
    Mrs. Greene was a faithful Christian, being a member of Cross Roads 
Baptist Church for many years.  Possessing an unusually sweet disposition, she 
endeared herself to a wide circle of friends.  Mrs. Greene will be greatly 
missed by those who knew and loved her best.
    Funeral services were held at Cross Roads Baptist Church Saturday, October 
27, at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. E. H. Collins and Rev. D. C. Williams 
officiating.  Interment was in the churchyard cemetery.
    Mrs. Greene is survived by one daughter, Mrs. W. E. Sanders of 
Carnesville, one granddaughter, Mrs. Jack Ratley of Carnesville, one sister, 
Miss Lucy Carson of Carnesville, two brothers, J. M. Carson of Commerce and A. 
L. Carson of Detonti, Ark.
