JOSEPH EDWIN HUBBARD. Death came to him at the Crawford Long hospital in Atlanta, during the early morning hours after an illness of 10 days of kidney trouble. Born in Hart County 74 years ago, Mr. Hubbard moved to Franklin in early life, where he has been prominently identified with the political, civic and religious life of the county. He was elected for four terms to the office of Tax Collector and no more accommodating or kindly man ever held this office. He was honest to a fault, kind and considerate to every one and rendered to his friends a superb loyalty. Mr. Hubbard was a devoted Christian, being a member of the Cross Roads Bapt. Church, which he served as a deacon for many years as well as taking active parts in all church and Sunday School activities. Truly it can be said a good man has gone to meet his last recompense of reward. Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at the Cross Roads Church, Carnesville, at 3 o'clock with Rev. A. W. Bussey and Rev. E. H. Collins officiating. Interment followed in the churchyard cemetery with a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attending to pay tribute to the memory of this beloved citizen. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leila Aderhold Hubbard; 9 children, Mrs. W. C. McMurry, Mrs. L. W. Harber, Mrs. S. L. Williams, Misses Bertha, Marion Lenora, Evelyn, Ruby Lois and Mr. Edwin Hubbard. 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and many other relatives also survive. B. D. Ginn, funeral director.
