Macomson Answers Last Call A Life of Usefulness He Passes to His Reward Another of Franklin County's Veterans has crossed the river. Father time is getting in his work and one by one the remnant of heroes in gray are passing to their last reward. The last of our citizens to answer his last roll call was Mr. J.F. Macomson, of Lavonia, to whom death came on Saturday night, April 13th at 10 o'clock. Mr. Macomson was 74 years of age. He had been in declining health for several months and to those who knew of his condition, the news of his death was no surprise. The remains of Mr. Macomson were interred at New Hope. Church near Mize in Franklin County on Monday afternoon. The funeral services were appropriately conducted by Rev. W.J. Purcell, of Eastanollee. Mr. Macomson was born in Spartanburg County, S.C., more than 74 years ago. He was married to a Miss Smith near Spartanburg when he was a young man. About forty years ago he moved his family to Franklin County in which he made his home till the end came last Saturday night. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Macomson, nine of whom survive. They are; J.A. Macomson, of Middle River District in Franklin County; Mrs. W.W. Stephenson, of Thomasville, Ga.; Mrs. J.F. Hix, of Banks County; Mrs. W.A. Crawford, of Lavonia; D.V. Macomson, of Thomasville; Rev. Sam Macomson, of Carnesville; Mr. W.S. Macomson, of Lavonia; Miss Mattie Macomson, of Lavonia, and Mr. R.C. Macomson, of Lavonia. Mrs. Macomson, the wife of Mr. J.F. Macomson, died seventeen years ago. The children were with him constantly in his last days and gave him every attention possible. He had run his race. The hour had come and he answered the call with that fortitude that characterized his every act in life. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had lived a christian life for many years.
