His death was very sudden from heart trouble. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. W. Bussey at Clarkes Creek Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 after which his remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery. A large number of friends and relatives attended the funeral, attesting to the high esteem in which he was held. Mr. McCall was a remarkable man for such an advanced age. He was alert of mind and would discuss events with clearness and force right up to the time of his death. He was also very active physically for a man of 90 years and the morning of his death he was up and about and had planned to help with the garden work. He served the South in the War Between the States for 3 years in the 52nd Georgia Regiment. He made a splendid record in the war and was raised to the rank of sergeant. Mr. McCall was a well-informed man, took much interest in the progress of his section and county. He had lived a most useful and influential life in the community where he was born and lived until the time of his death. One noble deed of he and his son, Mr. Tom McCall, was rearing three orphan boys. He is survived by 5 sons and 1 daughter, Mr. George McCall, Mr. J. T. McCall, Mr. W. P. McCall, Mrs. T. S. Segars, Mr. S. C. McCall and Mr. Doomis McCall. Also, three adopted boys, Aster Brock, Burnard Campbell and Ralph McCall.
