THOMAS B. MEANS, 67, died in the Commerce Hospital last Thursday, February 25th, following an illness of only two weeks of kidney stones. Mr. Means was well known over the county and his passing is mourned by hundreds of friends who had come to appreciate his unassuming and kindly nature. He was a man of his work and ever stood for the things that make for honesty and fair dealings. He was born in Banks County, but had made his home in Franklin for many years. Mr. Means was united in wedlock to Miss Belle Ayers 46 years ago. She preceded him to the grave several years since. Funeral services were held at New Bethel Church last Friday with Rev. Garnet Wilson conducting the services. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the funeral. Mr. Means i survived by two sons, Mr. John Means of Homer and Mr. Tom Means of Eastanollee; two daughters, Mrs. Maudie Watkins and Mrs. Eula Mae Venable of Commerce; one brother, Hugh Means of Ashland; three sisters, Mrs. Belle Caudell of Banks County, Mrs. Nettie Allen of North Carolina, Mrs. Fannie Banks of Dallas, Texas, and 14 grandchildren.
