MR. HUBERT OSBORNE, POPULAR MAIL CARRIER, BURIED FRIDAY

A large concourse of friends and relatives attended the funeral of Mr. Hubert 
Echols Osborne, 53, in Royston Friday morning of last week at the Methodist 
Church.  He died in Tuscon, Arizona on October 21, from a stroke.  He had been 
in ill health for the past several years and was a patient at a Veterans 
Hospital at the time of his death.
Mr. Osborne was born in Canon and lived there all his life with the exception 
of a few years in Royston and Arizona.  He was a veteran of World War I, 
having served in the Navy.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and 
other organizations.
For thirty years he served as rural mail carrier from the Canon post office 
and by his affable manner endeared himself not only to patrons but also with 
whom he came in contact.  Of a loyal nature he made countless friends and will 
be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Una Carlton Osborne; two daughters, Misses 
Sara and Evelyn Osborne of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Allen O. Hatl_____ 
of Long Beach, Calif; one brother, Edwin N. Osborne of Petersburg, VA.
Mr. Osborne was a son of the late Mr. D. C. Osborne and Mrs. Sarah Emma Nelms 
Osborne, pioneer citizens of Franklin County.
Rev. C. W. Fruit and Rev. Douglas Gibson officiated and interment was in Rose 
Hill Cemetery, Royston, GA.
Royston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
