Miss Carmel Parten, 88, of Royston, died Sunday, September 5, 2004, at her home. 
She was born in Franklin County, on June 5, 1916, a daughter of the late B.E. and 
Teresia Phillips Parten. She was a farmer and a member or the Pennington Chapel 
United Methodist Church in Franklin County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by 
two brothers, Wilburn (Bill) Parten and George Parten, five sisters, Montene 
Parten, Madge Parten, Retha Phillips, Ellis Sorrells, and Nina Brooks.
Survivors include a brother Travis Parten of Royston, and two sisters, Lucy Haley 
and Winnie Patterson both of Royston; several nieces, nephews, and great nephews 
also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 7th, at the Pennington Chapel United 
Methodist Church with the Revs. Earl Goode and Brian David officiating. Burial was 
in the church cemetery.
