MRS. GARFIELD OAKLEY PAYNE (should be Ethel ew), 33 years, died at the family 
residence early Wednesday morning.  The death of Mrs. Payne was a shock to her 
many friends and neighbors as she appeared to be in good health the day before.
    The deceased is survived by her husband, Garfield Payne; two sons, Harold 
and Frank; her father, P. A. Oakley; 2 brothers, F. P. and W. C. Oakley; 4 
sisters, Mrs. J. W. Smith, Charleston, SC; Mrs. R. L. Smith, South Georgia; 
Mrs. Epp Payne of Clayton, and Mrs. L. F. Whitworth of Toccoa.
    Funeral services were held at New Hope Church at Mize, Wednesday afternoon 
with Rev. R. L. Davis officiating. 
    Bond, Crawford & Lipscomb, funeral directors.
