Franklin County Citizen, February 1990
Royston--Hubert Lemuel Phillips, 87, of Rt. 1, husband of Lucille Collins 
Phillips, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 1990, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.

Born in Franklin County, he was a son of the late M.C. and Lonie Cape Phillips. He 
was a retired farmer and a member of Franklin Baptist Church. His first wife was 
the late Retha Jane Parten Phillips.

Surviving are wife; sons, Eugene Phillips of Iva, S.C., James B. Phillips of 
Carnesville, Vincent Phillips of Watkinsville, Randy C. Phillips and Hubert 
Douglas Phillips of Royston; daughter, Mrs. Wendell (Sara) Hall of Abbeville, 
S.C.; step-daughter, Joan Barnes of Toccoa; brother, Hugh Dorsey Phillips of 
Royston; sisters, Mrs. Berlene Reeves of Athens and Mrs. Willie Ruth Hart of 
Royston; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at Zidon Baptist Church by the Revs. Gary 
Osteen, Robert Thomas and Malcolm Herndon. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pruitte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
