Phillips, well known Sandy Cross woman, a native of the section where she lived all her life, and one of Franklin County's oldest women, died Wednesday morning at her home. Mrs. Phillips had suffered a stroke of paralysis two days before her death, and never recovered. She was the wife of Bob Phillips, prominent resident of Sandy Cross community, who has served as Justice of the Peace of Middle River District for many years, besides being a leading farmer and citizen. She was the former Miss Sarah Carey. Born in Franklin County, Mrs. Phillips was married in 1880. Her funeral was held this morning from Pennington's Chapel, the Rev. S.T. Sherrill, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in the churchyard cemetery. Surviving besides her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. B.E. Parten, of Royston, and five sons, Isom, Lester, Cluster, Clarence, and James Little Phillips, all of Royston. Cunningham & Weatherly, funeral directors, were in charge of arrangements.
