POWER had died suddenly at his home at 6 o'clock. He had suffered for several years with a weak heart. Mr. Powers has been living in Starr’s Bridge community for 21 years. During this time he had been a solid citizen, friendly to all, and a constant church member. He was born in Alabama 64 years ago, and while a small boy his family moved back to the Fort Lamar community. He was married to Miss Lula Crow in 1893 and the same year joined the Baptist church. He was an Odd Fellow and a Woodman. The remains were laid to rest in the Zidon cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. A large number of friends and relatives were present to pay a last tribute to this good man. Rev. Holcomb officiated. Surviving Mr. Powers is his wife and the following children: Mrs. L. H. James of Norwood, GA, Mrs. Susie Belk of Greenville, SC, Mrs. Wyatt Singleton of Canon, Mr. Aubrey Powers of Canon, Mrs. Dewey Powers of Greenville, SC, Mrs. Deward Jordan of Norwood, GA, Mr. James Power of Canon, Mrs. Arthur Hart of Royston. The following brothers also survive: Mr. C. S. Powers of Danielsville, and Mr. J. D. Powers of Athens. C. N. Weatherly, funeral director, was in charge.
