She was 44 years old at the time of her death. Funeral services were held from the Prospect Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Z. V. Hawks and Rev. Wm. E. Purcell had charge of the services. Interment was in Prospect cemetery. A large concourse of friends attended the funeral to pay their respects to her fine Christian character. Mrs. Purcell was born in Banks county on Feb. 13, 1887 and was a daughter of the late James Marion Whitfield. She had made her home in Franklin County for many years and was one of the most beloved women in her community. She was a devout Christian and took an active part in church work. She was especially a great lover of music and added much to the song service of the church. She was devoted to her family, kind and considerate to her friends, loyal to her church and obliging to her neighbors. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 sons: Kermit, Noal, J. B., Alford and Malon Purcell; 2 daughters: Mozell and Marion Purcell; her mother, Mrs. Alpha Cash Whitfield, Toccoa, GA; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Phillip M (Ella) Purcell, Ashland; Mrs. Sam ( Sara Ann) Kesler,Toccoa; Mr. J. Elbert Whitfield, Mize: Mr. Thomas Whitfield, Shamrock, Texas; Mrs. Ellis (Nancy) Verner, Ashland; Mrs. Luther (Leila) Murray, Homer; Mrs. Joe (Nora) Murrray, Ashland; Claude Whitfield, Shamrock, Texas; Mrs. Henry (Ethel) Caudell, Toccoa. She is also survived by many other relatives and a host of friends. Weatherly & Brock Funderal Directors were in charge.
