Willis Preston Roach, 81, of the Sandy Cross community, died Friday at his home 
following a long illness.

He was a son of the late Milford and Mandy Vaughter Roach and was born in Oconee 
County, but had lived in Sandy Cross section many years. His wife, Mrs. Sallie 
Phillips Roach, died seven years ago. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church 
and of Royston Masonic Lodge. He was trustee for Sandy Cross School for 15 years.

Survivors include six sons, Dennis Roach, Carnesville, Grady, Ozier, Gordon, Elmer 
and Albert Roach, all of Royston; three daughters, Mrs. Lonnie Royston, Marietta, 
Mrs. Alene Atkinson, Royston, Mrs. Annie Lou Gibby, of the home; a brother, Emory 
Roach, Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Ella Hanley, Taylors, S.C.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from Riverside Baptist Church with the 
Rev. Thomas Clark, the Rev. Spence Phillips and the Rev. Dwight Smith officiating. 
Burial was in the church cemetery.
