Born Jan. 15, 1933, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Luther and Lessie (Vaughn) Roberts. He retired from BE&K of Greenville as an industrial electrician and was the former owner of City Cafe in Lavonia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict and a member of Lavonia Masonic Lodge 241. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (LeCroy) Roberts. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Melanie Roberts and Brad and Renee Roberts all of Lavonia; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Mike Hardy of Anderson, S.C. and Lisa and Clay Milford of Lavonia; grandchildren, Josh Roberts, Phoenix Roberts, Journey Roberts, and Lenox Roberts all of Lavonia; brothers, Rafe Roberts of Lavonia, Ralph Roberts, Rance Roberts and Raymond Roberts all of Carnesville; sister, Mary Frances Phillips of Greenville, S.C.; special friend, Louise Hyde; and shade tree friends, Charlie Moulder and Joe Herring and faithful companion, Red. Funeral service was held Sunday, April 26, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Jones and Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
