She was born in Franklin County September 22, 1918, daughter of the late James Tom and Etta Carey Smith. Mrs. Smith was a retired textile worker with Candlewick Industries and attended Dewy Rose Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Howell Smith and sister, Millie Horne. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Harvey Lee and Shirley Crowe, Dewy Rose; brother, Carey Williard Smith, Royston; sisters, Tommie Lou Rice, Canon, Veba Phillips, Etta Jo Bell, and Mary Jean Smith, all of Royston; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 28, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary Purvis and Kenny Martin officiating. Burial was in the Pennington Chapel UMC Cemetery. Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
