She had been ill with influenza and pneumonia about two weeks before her death. Miss Spears was about 18 years old and had many relatives and friends in and around Carnesville. She was very popular and accomplished and her death is a source of deep grief to those who knew her. She was a member of the church and lived a christian life. Her remains were brought to Carnesville and laid to rest in Cross Roads cemetery Tuesday, January 1st. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.F. Goode. She is survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Spears; two brothers, Messrs. Bright and Woodfin Spears; two sisters, Misses Reba and Lila Spears, all of Asheville, N.C. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of their many friends in the bereavement caused by the death of this fine christian young girl.
