A. Terrell, County Treasurer, Passes Away Rev. Aaron Terrell, highly esteemed citizen and Treasurer of Franklin County, died at his home near Carnesville last Friday afternoon, after an illness of several weeks' duration. He had been confined to his bed for some time with stomach trouble and other complaints. Rev. Terrell was serving his fourth year as county treasurer and was recently elected by an overwhelming majority to succeed himself for another term of four years, thus proving his popularity over the county. Prior to the time of his election as county treasurer, Rev. Terrell filled many pastorates in the Baptist Church. He was ordained to a Baptist ministry in 1883 by a presbytery composed of the following ministers: Rev. John Kytle, Rev. Porter, and Rev. Ryder. He served the following churches as pastor; Old Currahee, Chopped Oak, Carnes Creek, and Rock Creek. Rev. Terrell did a great deal of preaching in many other churches where he was not the pastor, preaching with other pastors in revivals and evangelistic meetings, and in this kind of work he was very successful. Funeral services were held from Cross Roads Baptist church Saturday, September First. His pastor, Rev. J. R. Lancaster, conducted the funeral services assisted by the life long friends of the deceased, concourse of friends and relatives attended the funeral to pay their tribute of respect to their friends and brother. The Masonic Lodge of which he was a prominent member, had charge of the closing part of the services as is their custom. Rev. Terrell numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He was a big-hearted, accommodating, cheerful, kind to everyone and in his passing the community lost a valuable officer and citizen. Rev. Terrell was born January 15, 1858 in Habersham county. He joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist church when he was twenty years old and always lived up to his beliefs. He was married to Miss Nancy Jane Brown in 1878, and to this union eleven children were born, ten of whom now survive him. The sons are Dr. J. H. Terrell of Belmont, N.C., B. D., A. E., ?.P., T. G. and F. M Terrell, all of Carnesville; the daughters are: Mrs. E. S. Forrester, Mrs. O. H. Purcell, Mrs. T. O. Means, of Carnesville, and Mrs. N. F. Prickett, of Commence. He is also survived by his wife, thirty-five grandchildren and many other relatives. The relatives have the sympathy of all in the death of this good man. B. D. Ginn, funeral director was in charge.
