Born in Franklin County, on August 7, 1946, he was the son of Florine Royston Thomas of Royston, and the late Frank Thomas. He was a retired Master Chief having served in the United States Navy, during which time he served two tours in Vietnam. He was president of the Franklin County Gideon’s Association, vice- president of the Tri-County Coon Hunters Association, and was a member of the Franklin Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Prince Thomas, Royston; a daughter, Cathy Gaddis, Athens, Tenn.; his mother; grandchildren, Fiona Smith, Grant Smith and Matthew Gaddis; brother, Edward Thomas, Senoia; and a sister, Betty Floyd, Atlanta. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, at 11 a.m., at the Franklin Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Darvin Cash and Frank Bearden officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military rites. The body will lie in state at the church Friday, September 22, at 10:30 a.m. The family is at the home of Florine Thomas, 540 Green Branch Rd., Royston, Ga. 30662.
