Mattie Lou Vanpelt, 87, of Canon, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Brown 
Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston.

Born in Hart County March 19, 1917, she was the daughter of the late J.P. 
(Pink) and Vanna Burdette Duck. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of 
the Canon Church of God. Mrs. Vanpelt was preceded in death by her husband, 
Stillman Vanpelt, four brothers, Arthur, Kirby, Haskell and R.T. Duck, two 
sisters, Bertha Reed and Ruby Jackson.

Survivors include a son, Hoyt Vanpelt, Canon; and a sister, Lola Roberts, 
Carnesville.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 17, in the chapel of Pruitt 
Funeral Home with the Revs. Leon Suttles, Dorsey Holmes and Gary Stewart 
officiating. 
Burial was in the Franklin Memorial Gardens - North.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
