She was born in Franklin County on April 20, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Floyd Lewis Kay Sr. and Naomi Elizabeth Welborn Kay. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Vaughn. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dwaine and Selma Vaughn, Royston; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Billy Ray Vickery, Hartwell, and Patsy and Clinton Rice, Norcross; brothers, James Kay, Royston, and Floyd Kay Jr., Canon; sisters, Frances Fleming, Greenville, S.C., Jean Campbell, Royston; Nellie Hembree, Shirley Martin and Nancy Paxton, all of Hartwell; daughter-in- law, Mabel Vaughn, Royston; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27, at 2 p.m., in the Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Jones and Dalton Carrington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. The body will be placed at the church at 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 27. The family is at home.
