CLERO WHITEN GOES TO REWARD On Sunday, January 13th, at the home in Liberty community, the death angel came to claim the sweet spirit of Mrs. Myrtice Whiten, wife of Mr. Cleo Whiten, following an illness of five weeks with heart trouble. Her condition had gradually grown worse during the past few weeks and her death, while coming as a great shock, was not unexpected. Mrs. Whiten was 47 years old and was born and reared in Franklin county. She was, before her marriage in 1916, Miss Myrtice McWhorter, a member of a prominent family of the county. She was a teacher in the public schools of Franklin county for more than ten years and wherever she taught she endeared herself to pupils and patrons alike. She was a consecrated christian, being a member of the Methodist church and taking an active part as long as health permitted in church and Sunday School affairs. A more devoted wife and mother could not be found, for she was ever constant in looking after the welfare of her loved ones and in her death there is a place left vacant that none other can fill. Her many admirable traits won for her the friendship of all with whom she was associated and her death is mourned by legions of friends. Funeral services for this estimable lady were held at Fairview church on Tuesday, Jan. 15th, with Rev. S. E. Macomson and Rev. Baker Smith conducting the services. Interment was in Fairview cemetery. The large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives attending the funeral was mute testimony of the high esteem in which she was held. Surviving Mrs. Whiten are her husband and three children, Mary, Dan and Edith Whiten, two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Crump of Carnesville, Mrs. Blanche Simpson of atlanta and two brothers, C. R. McWhorter of Hapeville and R. E. McWhorter of Dallas, Texas. These members of family and other relatives have the deepest sympathy of their many friends in the death of their loved one. B. D. Ginn, funeral director, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
