Will of John Bellamy 26 May 1829 Franklin County, GA In the name of God, amen. I John Bellamy of the County of Franklin & State of Georgia, being weak in body, but of perfect mind & memory, thanks be to God, Calling into mind the mortality of my body, & Knowing that it is appointed for men once to die, do make & ordain, this my last Will & Testament, that is to say, principally & first of all, I give & recommend my Soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave it any my Body to the earth, to be buried in decent Christian, Burial, at the discretion of my Executors; nothing doubting but at the General resurrection. I shall receive it again by the Mighty Power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God, to bless me with, I give and dispose of in the following manner, (to wit) First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lucy Bellamy four Negroes (to wit) Jack, Sim, Tilday, & Judah, the plantation whereon I now live, together with my stock of all Kinds, Plantation tools, household & Kitchen furniture, during her natural life or widowhood - Secondly, I give & Bequeath to my Son William Bellamy, one hundred twenty eight & one fourth acres of land whereon he now lives, it being one half of a tract of land belong to me, ly on Nails Creek, Joining John Gober & Westbrook, originally granted to John Turmon. Also one young negro man named Granville - Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my son Nicholas Bellamy ten dollars he having had his part heretofore - Fourthly - I give and bequeath to my son John Bellamy one hundred and fifty acres more or less, it being all that Part of a tract of land Granted to Richard Bellamy on Nails Creek, Joing Tignal Jones, Said tract to be divided by a large branch running through the plantation, for his part to be on the lower side of said branch - Fifthly, I give and bequeath to my son Richard Bellamy the balance of the above last named tract of land, and that part lying above the tract as discribed in the item before, also one negro Girl Very - Sixthly, I give to my daughter Lucy Moats, two negroes (to wit) Liza a woman & one boy child named Berry, also one feather bed to remain in her possession, & for her special use & benefit during her life, and at her death to go to her children, together with the increase of the woman forever, & by no means to be disposed of in any other manner whatever - Seventhly, I give to my daughter Patsy Brawner one hundred and twenty eight & one fourth Acres of land, the other part of the tract given to William Bellamy on Nails Creek. Also one negro woman & child now in her possession the woman named Mary, to remain in her possession & for her special use & benefit during her life & at her death to go to her children forever, & to no other use whatever - Eightly, I give to my Daughter, Nisey Westbrook, two negroes, (to wit) Sally & Dicy to remain in her possession & for her special use & benefit during her life, & at her death to go to her children forever, & to no other use whatever - Ninthly I give to my Daughter, Elizabeth Bellamy, two negro girls named Kitty and Anna, also one featherbed & furniture - Tenthly I give to my son, Asa Bellamy one negro boy named Green, also at the death of his mother, the negro man named Jack, given to his mother & one half of the land whereon I now live at her death, also one featherbed & furniture, to be had at my death - Eleventhly, I give to my son Pleasant Bellamy, one negro girl named Thirsa, one feather bed & furniture also at the death of his mother, the negro man named Sim, also one half of the land given to his mother, my wish is, that the land be equally divided between the last two boys - Twelfthly I give to my grand son Gilbert Bellamy one tract of land drawn by myself No. 166 on the 13th district of Houston. Thirteenthly I give to my grand son Nicholas Bellamy a tract of land drawn by my mother Mary Bellamy No 221 in the ninth district of Troup County - Fourteenthly, My will is that the tract of land drawn by my mother No. 134 in the 11th district of Muscogee and also my Negro man Reuben at my death, be sold, and the proceeds be equally divided among my children in the manner above named.
