Will of George Rucker 06 Sep 1810 Franklin County, GA WILL OF GEORGE RUCKER, SR. : FOUND IN GEORGIA ARCHIVES; DRAWER 178, BOX 12; p. 81-82 State of Georgia Franklin County In the name of God, Amen. I, George Rucker, Sr., of the county & State aforesaid being in a low state of health tho having the proper exercise of my reason & considering the mortality of my body have thought proper to ordain & constitute this as my last will & Testament that is to say, I do leave & bequeath my body to the dust from whence it came to be buried in a decent Christian like manner and my spirit unto God who gave it, hoping them to be united at the general resurection & as for the worldly property which it has blessed God to bestow upon me, I do leave & bequeath in the following manner, that is to say, I do leave & bequeath to myt true and beloved wife, Catherine, all the land, negroes & working tools which I possess & household furniture during her widowhood; likewise all the horses, mares, cattle, sheep & hogs to be left in her care for the use of her & the family during her widowhood. Likewise I do leave & bequeath to my daughter, Indy, her bed & furniture , one side saddle & bridle, one cow & calf to be given to her when she calls for them. Likewise, I do leave & bequeath to my daughter, Nancy, her bed & furniture, one side saddle & bridle and one cow & calf to be given her when she calls for them. Furthermore, I do leave & bequeath to my youngest son, Simon, one young horse worth one hundred dollars, one saddle & bridle, one cow & calf, one feather bed & furniture to be delivered to him at the age of twenty one. I do leave & bequeath to my four eldest daughters, to wit:, susannah, Elizabeth, mary & Frances, five shillings sterling each. Likewise, I do leave to my eldest son, George, at the decease of or a second marriage of my wife, a part of the land whereon I now live on the North west end beginning at a hicory & on the north bank of Griggs Creek running thnce to a chestnut & in the for of a branch & from thence to pine X on the old line. I do leave to my son, Simeon, all the rest of my land lying to the east of the aforesaid line & in case of the decease of my wife or a second marriage, I do leave my negroes & all my moveable property to be sold at publick sale and equally divided amongst all my children. Likewise, I do ordain, constitute & appoint my wife Catherine, George Rucker, Jr. & Robert Barnwell, my true & lawful executors to this my last will & testament. In witness where of I have hereunto it my hand and seal this sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & ten.
