Meadows rwmeadows@charter.net October 1, 2003, 12:56 am Source: Franklin Co., GA, deed book RRR, folio 41 Written: October 5 1808 Recorded: October 8 1808 Thomas Payne power of attorney to Reuben Payne, 5 October 1808 Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book RRR, left-hand page of folio 41: Georgia Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Payne of the County of Franklin and Sate aforesaid, for divers good Causes and a good and valuable Consideration me here unto moveing, have made ordained, Constituted, authorized and [right-hand page of folio 41] appointed and by these presents do make ordain Constitute authorized and appointed Reuben Payne of the County and State aforesaid my true and Lawful attorney Irrevocable in my name but for the Sole use and benefit of him the said Reuben Payne to ask demand Sue for and recover and receive of and from the executors or administrators or of and from the executors or administrators of the executors of John Payne late of Pitsylvania County in the State of Virginia deceased or of and from the executors deson tort of the Said John Payne deceased or of and from any other person or persons whatsoever or wheresoever haveing in their possession any of estate real or personal of the Said John Payne decesed all such Sum or Sums of money as may due and oweing to me as one of the Legatees or distributees of my Said father John Payne deceased and also all such lands goods and chattels as I my be lawfully entitled unto as one of the Legatees or distrabutees as aforesaid and to have use and take all Lawful ways and means in my name or otherwise for the recovery therof by attehment arres[t] or otherwise and to compound and agree for the Same and upon the Receipt therof by or payment thereof to my Said Attorney a general release acquittance or other Sufficient discharge for the same for me and in my name to make Seal and deliver and to do all other Lawful acts [left-hand page of folio 42] acts and things whatever Concerning the premises as fully in every Respect as I myself might or Could do if I were personally present. Ratifying and confirming all and whasoever my said attorney shall in my name Lawfully do or cause to be done in and about the premises by virtue of thes presents.
