John Smith and wife lived in Elbert County, GA  in the year 1780.  H was the 
father of Rev. John M. Smith.  John Smith married Miss REbecca Meridy and they 
had three sons, William, Thomas and John M. .  One daughter Nancy.  They were 
originally from Virginia. After he died 1790 his widow married Mr. John Dorsey 
and they had one daughter.  They lived with her son, Rev. John M Smith and she 
died there 1 Jan 1831.  Buried at Mt. Gilead Church.  Mr Dorsey married Miss 
Peggy Guthrie.  Hedied about 1850.  Nancy married Andrew Dorsey (No Relation to 
John Dorsey.  She is buried at Mossy Creek Church, Habersham County, GA.  John 
Smith was a machinist.
