Nancy married Rev. John M Smith of Franklin County, GA 27 Nov. 1810 in Franklin County, GA . She moved to Fulton County in 1822. They had six children. She was one of the charter members of Mt. Gilead Church was was organized at their house. She had four sons all Methodist preachers and four daughters. She wa ssick a great deal, but lived to an old age. Her children said that at one time whe she was sick that her mind became impaired and she neither ate nor talkef for forty days. She said that the Saviour fasted for forty days and she could, too. She became very weak and frail during that time but recovered. She was about 50yrs at that time. After, Rev. Smith, died in 1863 she and her two daughters, Isabella and Ann, and Aunt Polly lived there alone on the home place. The armies all came on their place and they took care of a sick soldier of the Confederate Army. In the fall of 1864 they had hard time. 1865 Isabella married Wm. McGee. Lewis Baker, her grandson, went to live with them in 1866, and in the fall of that year Oct. 17, 1866, Nancy, dau. Ann & Aunt Polly all went to live with her daughter, Diademma Baker. She was very feeble in her old age and could only sit and knit and read the Testament. She smoked her clay pipe, as was the custom of old ladies in those days. I often talked with her about her life. I selected her coffin and hepled to bur her. She is buried at Mt. Gilead beside her husband and his brother, P. P. Smith. Her grandchildren loved her and called her "Blessed".
